MEDICINE COLLECTION EVENT RESULTS – Clearwater 2017

Clearwater, Florida—On Saturday, April 22nd, the Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. (SWIX), in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Florida State University’s Center for Biomedical & Toxicological Research (CBTR), the University of Florida College of Pharmacy – St. Petersburg Campus, Pinellas County Solid Waste and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, held an Operation Medicine Cabinet event for the free collection of unwanted or unneeded medications (both over the counter and prescription).

During the event, 51 Clearwater participants brought in 82 pounds of over the counter and prescription medications.

These collection events provide Clearwater/Pinellas County citizens the opportunity to properly dispose of their unused or unneeded medications, protecting the environment and lessening the chances for the illegal and potentially harmful use of these drugs.
