Speaker Bio:

Mitch Kessler, President of Kessler Consulting, Inc. has more than 30 years in the solid waste industry and has been responsible for hundreds of projects pertaining to comprehensive waste management, collection, recycling, and composting programs for municipalities, institutions, and private corporations.  Mitch is the Immediate Past President of SWANA Florida Sunshine Chapter and current Florida Representative for the SWANA International Board of Directors. Mitch has served multiple terms, and was previous Chair, for RecycleFlorida Today and serves on the NW&RA Recycling Committee. Mr. Kessler holds a JD in Environmental Law, a Master’s degree in American Studies, a Bachelor’s degree in Management and an Associate’s degree in Horticulture.

Abstract:

Contracting for Recycling Services: A Primer will address the facts and fiction of recyclable commodities in today’s market. Issues covered will include: what materials are recyclable; balancing public perception with policy decisions and the industry’s reality; and the economic implications of recycling and how each and every program is unique.
