MEDICINE COLLECTION EVENT RESULTS – November 2018
Monticello, Florida—On Saturday, November 3rd, the Jefferson Communities Water Systems, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. City of Monticello with assistance from the Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. (SWIX), held an Operation Medicine Cabinet event for the free collection of unwanted or unneeded medications (both over the counter and prescription) at the Winn Dixie Shopping Center.
This was the second time that this event has been held in Jefferson County.
During the event, 19 participants brought in 15 pounds of over the counter and prescription medications.
These collection events provide Monticello/Jefferson County citizens the opportunity to properly dispose of their unused or unneeded medications, protecting water supply, the environment and lessening the chances for the illegal and potentially harmful use of these drugs.
